COTTONWOOD -- Fundraising continues to benefit Marci and daughter Chance Molzan of Cottonwood. Mom and daughter were headed to the airport on Interstate 17, March 11, when they were hit head-on in their HOV lane by drunk wrong-way driver Johnny Bonnie.
Marci suffered a brain injury. Chance needed multiple surgeries to repair broken bones in her arms and legs.
Last week, the Cottonwood Middle School raised $700 from a car wash. They will also count coins collected in donation jars.
Chance has now been released from the Children's Hospital in a wheel chair. Marci is now in a neurological rehabilitation hospital.
Sunday, April 7, the Dirty Verde Roller Derby girls have invited teams from Flagstaff, Prescott and Phoenix to join in a scrimmage at 1 p.m. at the Riverfront skate park at 1203 E. Riverfront Drive. Marci formerly skated as Show No Marci.
A requested donation of $5 for every girl participating to benefit the Molzan family.
Following the scrimmage, an after-party will continue the benefit.
Funds raised with barbecue and drink specials will also benefit the Molzans.
For those who cannot make the scrimmage, there is an online Paypal-type donation site or people may donate at Wells Fargo bank;
