Sales tax revenues released by the Department of Revenue stayed consistent in the Verde Valley for the month of August.
An almost 36-percent increase in Camp Verde compared to the same month last year is mostly the result of a sales tax increase. Revenues from communication and utilities almost doubled, while construction fell slightly.
Wholesale trade was three times less in August than the same month last year. Retail trade increased by about $25,000.
Clarkdale's sales tax revenues fell nearly 42 percent, an expected decrease reflecting the completion of construction projects in the town, said Finance Director Kathy Bainbridge.
"This is expected to continue," she said.
Collections in Cottonwood increased by slightly more than 8.5 percent, with most of the increase coming from construction, manufacturing, retail, real estate, and restaurants and bars.Jerome stayed pretty much the same, dropping by almost 6.7 percent compared to August of last year.
